While using NuWell 100 or NuWell 110 the water in your well should drop to a pH level at or below 3.0. When you discharge the well water it may come out as an orange or even red color as indicated by the chart below. Our NuWell 100 and 110 products contain this color indicator inside their chemistry but it is recommended to use pH strips to test your water as it is discharged to make sure you are neutralizing accurately. In order to properly dispose of the acidic well water, Soda Ash is the most common solution to bring the pH back up to a safe and neutral level.

NOTE: Never Neutralize the water down well. Minerals that are suspended in the well from cleaning will solidify and form a hard slurry inside your well and may damage your pump or the well itself.

Uses:
Soda Ash has long been used as the chemical neutralizer of choice for professionals because of its affordable cost. Soda Ash has a natural buffering effect that prevents an excessive rise in pH due to over-treatment. So this makes it a good choice for homeowners who are trying to dispose of well discharge in a way that is safe for plant life and the environment. By bringing the pH levels to a neutral range, the effects of the cleaner are reduced to safe levels.

Other Uses:
Soda Ash has many other uses outside of well neutralization; most common of these is to neutralize the pH in pools. This product will work for those as well but is not the focus of this listing. If you have any questions please feel free to contact our sales team.

Directions:

When using Soda Ash to neutralize your well, it is best to use pH strips to periodically check the pH of your well and the water after neutralization.
Discharge the water by through the closest spigot to the well source. Avoid allowing the discharge water to flow through your system. Minerals inside the discharge water may clog your filtration system or sprinkler heads.
Discharge the water into a watertight container and add soda ash until neutral levels are reached.
Once neutralized, dispose of the water in an appropriate manner in accordance with your local government guidelines.
